wonderfull

[whining]

so now jennifer is gone from work till she has the baby i guess. we finally got her temp replacement yesterday. another Wil.

great! grand! wonderfull!

not only that, but now Wil is showing him the supposed inner workings of the computer room. better him than me, but, dude.. it shouldn’t take you a half hour to explain a two minute job. also, i don’t think either of them, especially Wil, has an "inside voice". awesome.. now i’m in the middle of an annoying-guy sangwich. sweet.

my head asplode.

weezer and 311 r0×0rz!

saturday dave, heather, and i went to the best concert ever, inland invasion 5, here in socal. it was friggin awesome! i finally got to see weezer and 311. i want to go see weezer and the foo fighters now. i gotta find where they’re playin..

the lineup included:
Kasabian <- who? missed.
Fishbone <- missed
Bloc Party <- pretty good. couldn’t see, but heard while we were in line.
Travis Barker & DJ AM <- travis played the hell out of his drums for 20 minutes while AM scratched. not bad.
Bravery <- meh
The Arcade Fire <- meh
Garbage <- awesome!
Jet <- ok. very high pitched and too much flat out screaming from the frontman. way more than the cd. got annoying, even though i really like the album.
Live <- not bad. did all the songs i knew from high school
Madness <- not bad! i only knew the one song.. "our house… in the middle of our street.."
311 <- great show! love them! played all the good [popular] songs, including their ‘love song’ cover, which was simply amazing!
Beck <- meh
Weezer <- high point of the night!! sang big me by the foo fighters!! River did an acoustic Surf Wax America, scott sang only in dreams, pat sang buddy holly while river drummed. then some lucky bastard got to go on stage and play guitar for undone. best show of the concert!
Oasis <- we left after weezer. i didn’t feel like watching them suck and argue.
Cake <- wouldn’t have minded them.. but they arrived way late and got bumped to last.

anyway, no good pics of the concert cause even though i tried to sneak my camera in, they found it. :( lame. had to take it back to the car. did get a couple crappy pics with my cell phone stage from the top of the grass.

when it went dark i heard the t-shirt guy yelling "t-shirt’s, five bucks!" so i ran over and got dave and I each an Inland Invasion 5 t-shirt [the trick is to wait near the end of the show, and prices go down]. i also got a nice sunburn for free .

saw this in the parking lot.

this morning we went to the LA County Fair, which was friggin huge! walked around for hours…

shook hands with a monkey… saw a ton of goats. was hoping to see some fainting goats.. but, no luck. found out where t-shirts come from:D now you know. "what’s a nubian?"

overall, it was an awesome weekend. i had a great time chillin on the grass at glen helen pavilion. at lots of over-priced food, and took many naps. :) then, we came home 1730, and i immediatly had to go to work till 2230. :[

how to test drive a 04 auto mustang.

so kari is tired of the pt cruiser, i can hardly blame her though. it smells bad, it’s dirty [stained and stuff inside], and the power steering pump just had to be changed last week… among other things.

so yesterday she and dad went to look at an ‘04 mustang convertable. there are actually two at the dealer, red w/ white top/interior, or red w/tan top/interior. i vote for tan. both are auto’s, and both have around 23k on the odo.

they bring it to my house, i hop in the drivers seat, dad in the passenger, glenn and allen in the back. i drive it nice and easy to the end of the street, slow down, stop, drop it into first, hold the brake, floor the gas.

SKRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETCH. hehe.

test drive complete.

we continue around the block back to my place, where kari is giving me "i heard that" looks. hehe.

"it’s the white topped one, so it’s ok" i tell her.

Cliches and Science Fiction/RPGs

from phreak on pt: everybody loves a good cliche…especially a whole list of ‘em, categorized, about science fiction movies/shows! http://enphilistor.users4.50megs.com/cliche.htm?2

// ya! iron eagle!
"Children with access to the highest levels of military planning, scientific research, and governmental decision-making."

// also, this has *always* bugged me:
"Lasers are visible when travelling through the vacuum of outer space."

i also have to mention the Grand List of Console Role Playing Game Cliches, cause it’s just awesome: http://project-apollo.net/text/rpg.html

nascar weekend

this weekend was more fun than i’ve had in a while.

friday night… at like 2100, i think it was friday… dave, brian, glenn, allen, mckay, and myself went up behind the college and had a fireworks war. mostly it was them, but i shot a few off, and deffinatly got tagged by a few. even before we left we were in stitches because mckay was making picilo pete bombs, and i guess you wrap them in duct tape, then pound the tube with a hammer. while we’re all standing back, mckay exclaims "it’s ok, i’ve done a thousand of these." about 30 seconds later… it exploded with a very loud BANG! heh.

so, saturday around 1100, i got up, threw some clothes in the washer, took a shower, went to wal-mart and bought a new one-strap backpack [which glenn says is "metro". lol. no!], got gas and headed out of town. i made it there with great ease. there was no traffic and i avoided the 405 for the most part, taking the 5 > 405 > 118 > topanga canyon > ventura blvd. found linda’s place, and went up and hung out for a few hours before a guy, mark, from high school got there. we hung out for a bit more, linda called he boyfriend, matt, and we went and picked up him and his cousin and drove to the Universal city-walk. we ate at some… i guess it was a brewery. had excellent beers. we all shared a couple of pitchers, and i had an ‘OK’ hamburger and delicious fries. after leaving the cute waitress a nice large tip, to which she thanked me immensly [since i paid the bill, i guess]. we walked ofer to some place that was an arcade and had a bar. it was a huge rip-off. they even made me take off my hat. lame.

after we realized we could just get beers at lindas place for way cheaper, we left and dropped off matt and his cousin. mark, linda and i, went and got some coronas and limes, went back to lindas house and played drunken trivial pursuit. heh. it was pretty fun. i had a nice hat, apparently. i kicked ass at the game! linda went to bed, mark slept on the pull-out love seat, and i slept on the couch. we attempted to watch the italian job.

the next morning i was awoken to pokes and prods and ‘teeheehee’s. it was around noon and robyn and apryl had shown up. yay! after about 10 minutes of stealing my covers, the couch cushions, opening of curtains, and threats of ‘odd or even’, i got up and took a shower. i had a nice little hangover too, so, that added to the fun.

we went and ate pancakes outside at a restaurant called VIP’s, on ventura blvd. i probably counted at least 10 G35’s drive by. :( also, in the parking lot there was a pretty horribly done ‘west coast customs’ land rover with "blingin" wheels. :|
after breakfast, we drove for like 45 minutes to California Speedway for a NASCAR race. we got there with little difficulty, and almost no traffic! yay! we sat in the parking lot, under the raised up hatch of lindas ford escape, and drank some MGD light’s. not bad. i hadn’t had them before. we watched some planes do some sky writing, and i saw my number one dreamcar, a ferrari 360 spyder. yum. the 4 f-18’s that did the flyby over the stadium, dave said, were china lake jets. neat.

we proceeded into the stadium, only to realize that the tracScan headsets were outside the stadium, so apryl and i turned around, and walked like 1/4 mile to the tracScan trailer, gave them my credit card for the $250/ea deposit, and headed back into the stadium. we eventually found our seats, which were very nice. we didn’t have anyone sitting directly in front of us. just the walkway a few feet below.

the race was pretty cool. you see them on TV, and you know they are going fast, but being there, with them flying by at over 170mph, and being able to feel them go by because they are so loud.. it was just amazing. there were a couple spin outs, but no major incidents. one guy ended up having to be towed out. apparently tommy lasaorda was the flag waver. cool. the tracScan headsets were pretty sweet, too. we could tune in to listen to whichever driver we wanted. robyn and i spent most of the time scanning… which, if there was no one talking on a specific channel, it would scan for someone talking on another channel. dale jr. has got a mouth on him. and he’s not very nice, i think.

we left around 30-40 laps early [out of 250], had absolutely no traffic, which was awesome, considering the amout of people at the event. we drove for a bit, and ended up stopping at a tex-mex restaurant called Chevy’s, and had the most delicious chicken floutas. sooo good. we stopped, got some beers, and apryl wanted to kick my ass at trivial pursuit, so we played boys vs girls. i think we tied.. but they did much better than us. at like 2am, the girls went downstairs to bed, and mark and i stayed up and watched the italian job again, since we both passed out the night before. i slept with no covers. heh.

the next morning, we all got up, reminisced about high school, drank water, and ate bagels and cinnemon rolls. i left around 1 or 2, and headed home. dave called when i was leaving LA, and told me to come over to heathers mom’s new place for a housewarming party. i ate some delicious BBQ, and got the dime tour. michael then needed some help moving some stuff from his place to the new one, so dave, michael, and i headed over to his house, and loaded up his 1,000lb workbench onto a small trailer, strapped it down, delivered it, then went back for a drill press and a 18" planer [which is for sale.. hmmmm]. i want his tools.

so, all in all, it was a pretty nice weekend. linda and mark convinced me to buy a bike, so i’m gonna start lookin and reading. i need to get into shape.
