Akismet

I just noticed I havn’t gotten any spam comments on my blog in a while. I checked the Akismet anti-spam plugin I installed and it says:

Akismet has caught 219 spam for you since you installed it.

You can delete all of the spam from your database with a single click. This operation cannot be undone, so you may wish to check to ensure that no legitimate comments got through first. Spam is automatically deleted after 15 days, so don’t sweat it.

There are currently 133 comments identified as spam.

It’s totally working. None of them are actual comments, and real comments are getting through.

Metamorphosis

Last weekend I had been thinking about the project, and why I hadn’t heard anything. I was going to email Suzie on monday, but when I got home from work, I found an email letting Mirjam and I know that we would be getting the content pretty soon. She also mentioned that it needed to be done and to the printer by this coming monday, the 3rd. I replied, letter her know I was ready and that I wasn’t going to be busy all weekend, and that any extra time would be great. There was no way I could design an 80 page book in a few days, especially since I didn’t have the content at that point.

Tuesday, I got a reply to that email saying that Mirjam hadn’t been heard from, so basically, it was down to me. Oh oh!

Wednesday, I received all the content, and an email from Gary Enns, the project manager, asking if I knew Photoshop, as the original art guy had also dropped. So now, I’m designing the entire book. Crap. He also said that he had managed to get the due-to-printer date pushed back to the 10th. Phew! That’s more realistic. After I read that, a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. I had been a little stressed since I was being forced into such a tight schedule, and it was possible I was going to have to cancel my Vegas trip tomorrow. And there was no way that was happening…

Last night, I got home and did my one algebra assignment. I then thought I should start working on this. Well, after many trial and errors, I can’t get InDesign to install on my computer. Thankfully, it’s still installed on my old one. I’m going to try again tonight to install it, but I might be SOL. I tried uninstalling everything Adobe, too. I’ll try installing the entire CS2 suite tonight, instead of just the app’s I want.

So, I just printed out the book, onto regular paper [and found a spelling error. :) Everything is laid out nice, telling me where everything should go. That’s a HUGE help. I thought I was going to have to do that myself. Each piece has it’s own page, the TOC is already done. Like Suzie said, all I have to do is design it. I do have a couple questions though. Some of the text is in red for some unknown reason, and I need to verify that the inside of the book is strictly only black. I think I have a good idea in my head of what it will look like. I’m not going to be doing any math homework tonight, and work only on this.
