A military pilot called for a priority landing because his single-engine jet fighter was running “a bit peaked.”

Funny air traffic controllers quotes

Sick and tired.

I’ve been sick since last Tuesday. I called into work on Wednesday morning and stayed home all day, and Thursday, still feeling shitty, went down to Lancaster with Jeni to drop of Caleb with his dad. Then I just stayed home and did nothing all weekend. I just slept, watched TV, and played online. On Sunday Dave and I were gonna go see 300 but I realized I didn’t feel like sitting in front of screen anymore, since i’d been doing that all weekend. Jeni was pleased, since this meant I could go back down to Lancaster to pick up Caleb. I called into work on Monday, again, I felt like I was going to die. And last night I thought my head was going to explode. I woke up this morning with the same feeling, so I called in and came into work at 1130. I feel so much better now. I’m now at about 90% functionality. I’ve just got the stuffy sinuses and slgihtly runny nose.

The worst part of all this is all the crap that’s coming out of me between the coughing and nose blowing. Gross. I’ll not go into details.

The one saving grace in all of this is my tissues. I wisely bought Puff’s Plus tissues the other day, you know, the ones with lotion in them? I forgot to bring them in to work yesterday, and my the time I went home, my nose was raw. Today, I brought them, and it’s a huge difference. They feel like angles cherubs wiping my nose with their soft chubby hands.

And in case you didn’t know, today is March 14th: Steak and BJ day.

Oh ya, when Jeni and I went to eat at Outback after dropping Caleb off, we saw, in the mall parking lot, a Ferrari 360 Modena… just sitting there, so I took a horribl cell phone pic as proof of some peoples stupidity. DON’T EVER PARK YOUR FERRARI IN A MALL PARKING LOT!!! He’s just asking for trouble.

WARNING: Possible girly feelings ahead. Avoid at all costs.

Jeni is the one girl… woman, i’ve been searching for. We’re so good together. We compliment eachother quite nicely. We have alot of stuff that is beyond our control, in common. I know that she is ‘the one’. The one person who I want to spend the rest of my life with. She’s sweet, and caring, and very smart, and hilarious, and beautiful: inside and out. She’s a wonderful mother, she’s done, so far, a great job with Caleb. She is my best friend.

Monday, March 5th, was my mom’s birthday. As tradition demands, I stopped by the cemetary. I don’t really know why. I don’t get emotional anymore. It really is only some grass and a quickly-erroding headstone with a name on it. But, I feel it’s my duty to stop by, make sure the headstone is still there, or to see who else is buried next to her.

Like I said, I don’t really get emotional anymore like I used to; all teary eye’d just thinking about knowing that i’ll never hear her voice again, or receive a hug, or any of the other wonderful things kids enjoy of their mothers.

After my visit to the Ridgecrest Cemetary [Dad says, "People are dyin to get in there."] I went over to Jeni’s to for dinner and visiting. I walked up her patio, and Jeni opened the door before I even got up to it. She stood there, looking at me, and grabbed me and gave me a big hug. I immediately got teary-eyed.

Oh, how she knows me. It’s so refreshing to have someone who know’s you like Jeni know’s me. Know’s what i’m thinking, or about to say. I love just having long conversations with her, talking about nothing.

Yesterday, I woke up with the worst sore throat ever. I also had the standard body ache’s and dizzyness, so I called into work and let them know I was staying home. After having not slept very well due to the tossing, turning, and occational coughing, I slept in till 10:00. I called Jeni around noon, and asked if she was going to be going out at all that afternoon, and if she’d pick me up some DayQuil. She came over around 4:30 with DayQuil, Cepacol sore throat lozenges, and milk [since I had mentioned I was out after she suggested mashed potatos for lunch].

I guess what i’m trying to say is that I love being loved by her, as much as I love loving her. She makes it so easy.

Tim mentioned how much he loved his upconverting DVD player last time he was here, and so I started looking into what it was, having never heard of an ‘upconverting’ DVD player.

An upconverting DVD player “takes the DVD’s meager 720×480 (480i) resolution and jacks it up to 720p or 1080i. This jump doesn’t rival the one you experienced when you upgraded from VHS to DVD, but on a big HD display, the results can be stunning.”

So, I looked around a couple sites and settled on Samsung’s DVD-HD860. I figured, my TV is a Samsung, might as well match them, and in addition to the price being right, it is pretty. :D
Cnet gave it a “very good” 7.3/10.

In order to use the ‘upconverting’ feature, you have to output via tha HDMI port, which mean’s I had to buy an HDMI cable at a not-cheap $35. The funny thing is, that’s the cheap cable. The Monster brand 1 meter HDMI cable goes for $120. :|
I hooked up the player the day I got it, and programmed the remote to the TV to control the DVD player, which took all of two seconds, since they’re both Samsung’s. I should be getting the cable today, so we’ll see how it looks. After I come home from watching Heroes at Jeni’s, of course.
