Fraud

Got two emails and a voicemail today pertaining to ATM card fraud from Bank of America. Voicemail said to call 866-242-6289 [emails say 1.877.833.5617] and enter in 6 digit number given. I called and entered the number at the same time I came online and Googled the phone number number. The automated number said that there was possible fraud on my card for “smartguy.bkas [or .dts] in the amount of $604.95.

I started reading messages online saying it was possibly a fraud phone number and freaked and hung up. I promptly called the number on the back of my BofA ATM card, 800-622-8731. After verifying I am who I am the CSR confirmed what there was a fraud charge on my card for $604.95. From Denmark.

So, BofA.. I love thee. They’re also sending me a new ATM card… with a new number that I have to learn.. just as I was learning this number. Oh well.. i’d rather have to learn a new number than have a friggin $600 charge and get nothing from it!
