Via badastronomy:
The education bill that will allow creationism to be taught in public schools has now passed both the House and the Senate in the state government. In other words, if Governor Bobby Jindal signs it, it becomes law. And then Louisiana is doomed.
It’s almost a foregone conclusion that Jindal will sign it; oddly enough a man who is both a creationist and thinks exorcisms can cure cancer may not have a very good grasp on reality.
However, that doesn’t mean our voices shouldn’t be heard. He needs to hear that the reality-based community of his state is against this bill! And since passing the bill will make Louisiana a laughing stock across the planet, it can’t hurt to have everyone’s voice heard.
So I just shot off a quick email to Governor Jindal to remind him of what a moron his is:
I just read that SB 733 has now passed the house and state senate. This is pathetic. As a former resident of Louisiana, I couldn’t be more embarrassed of La. This is laughable. You actually are going to force your religious beliefs on the children of that state? Come on. What’s the point of church if you’re going to force it in school. What about the other religions. Maybe I’m Jewish and don’t believe the same thing you do? Are you going to teach what Jews believe? How about Muslims or Hindi? You’re that closed minded that you’d never even consider it.
RELIGION DOES NOT BELONG IN SCHOOLS! If I had children in that state, and you stated teaching your fundy crap, i’d sue you and the state.
Are you so blind to even consider that maybe evolution is a tool of God? No, you probably haven’t considered that. You probably believe every word in the bible as litteral truth.
I support the Coalition for Science and agree w that you have *no right* to put religion in schools! If you want kids to learn about God, tell them to go to church!
